Selenite
“Hear, Goddess queen, diffusing silver light, bull-horn'd and wand'ring thro' the gloom of Night.
With stars surrounded, and with circuit wide Night's torch extending, thro' the heav'ns you ride:
Female and Male with borrow'd rays you shine, and now full-orb'd, now tending to decline.
Mother of ages, fruit-producing Moon [Mene], whose amber orb makes Night's reflected noon:
Lover of horses, splendid, queen of Night, all-seeing pow'r bedeck'd with starry light.
Lover of vigilance, the foe of strife, in peace rejoicing, and a prudent life:
Fair lamp of Night, its ornament and friend, who giv'st to Nature's works their destin'd end.
Queen of the stars, all-wife Diana hail! Deck'd with a graceful robe and shining veil;
Come, blessed Goddess, prudent, starry, bright, come moony-lamp with chaste and splendid light,
Shine on these sacred rites with prosp'rous rays, and pleas'd accept thy suppliant's mystic praise.”- Orphic hymn
Selenite gets its name after the Greek Moon Goddess Selene. And when spending time with Selenite, it’s not hard to tell why. It’s beautiful white shimmering light and spherical shape is reminiscent to the Moon, making it perfect to work with for Moon related rituals, emotional healing and protection. Selenite gives off the most serene and peaceful energy, making it ideal to have all around the home, promoting a calm and welcoming atmosphere.
I also love to work with this shape of Selenite as a healing tool. If my day has been particularly stressful, or my energy feels low. I sit quietly while holding the sphere in both of my hands. Allowing the energy to recharge my own. You can feel this energy shift instantly, clearing away stagnant vibes and charging your auric field with brilliant renewing light. You’ll feel refreshed, protected and grounded.
Taking care of your selenite is easy. Every Full Moon, take your selenite outside to catch the light of the Moon, take care to not leave selenite our over night, as the morning dew will break down the gypsum. It’s nice to catch the light of the Moon on your Selenite while holding as well, almost as if you’re drawing down the Moon’s energy into your own.
The size is just under that of a baseball, perfect for holding in your hands and making a lovely addition to your magical decor.
